Julian Oliver Dörr

I am a technology enthusiast deeply passionate about the latest advancements in artificial intelligence, with a particular focus on the technical integration of large language models (LLMs) into decision-making processes. I earned my Ph.D. in Statistics from Justus-Liebig-University Gießen in 2022. During my doctoral studies, I worked full-time as a Researcher and Data Scientist at the ZEW – Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research, where I contributed to policy projects on industry dynamics and innovation. My work involved developing economic indicators from unstructured data using cutting-edge transformer models.

Beyond academia, I have gained extensive experience in the Insurance and Finance sectors, collaborating with leading organizations such as MunichRe, BMW Financial Services, the German Federal Reserve Bank, and TeamBank AG (a subsidiary of DZ Bank) and Atruvia AG. These roles have honed my expertise in data-driven decision-making and software development.

For instance, at BMW, I led the machine learning project for developing and globally rolling out residual value prognosis models, essential for pricing lease rates. I also played a pivotal role in introducing Generative AI within the risk community by delivering a retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) proof of concept to facilitate guideline communication across risk departments. At MunichRe, I served as a Data Analytics Consultant in the Digital Solutions unit, leveraging my deep technical knowledge of LLMs to automate data workflows for an internal data-pooling platform.

In my current role at Atruvia AG, I lead the technical integration of LLM-powered AI frameworks into software solutions that enhance customer and employee support across over 100 banks in the Genossenschaftliche Finanzgruppe. I architect, develop, and deploy scalable Python microservices, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our AI initiatives align seamlessly with business goals and deliver tangible value.

In addition, I freelance as an instructor, delivering AI workshops that empower practitioners and companies to understand and leverage the power of today’s AI systems.
